As a Christian family of 12 in the piney woods of East Texas, we believe 1 Corinthians 10:31 when it states: “whatever you do… do it all to the glory of God” and Colossians 3:23-24 when it states “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
This is the mentality we bring to raising our animals at Capital H Farm.
But why did we start our farm in the first place? Because after years of slowly switching our food purchases from traditional to organic producers, we learned an unsettling truth from some connections in the food industry. That truth? Even “organic” meats you purchase at the grocery store, if they aren’t sourced from small, local farms, are very likely produced at scale, with cost as the primary decision-making factor, resulting in conditions that are inhumane to the animals and the use of practices or products that may still include chemicals. A form of “Greenwashing” where overseas meat is purchased and re-labeled may also result in chemical laden “organic” meat at your grocery store as foreign practices may not be as stringent or verifiable but still qualify for the label from the originating country.
That’s why we decided it was time to embrace the small, local farm movement – to provide ethically raised, truly healthy meat for our own family and for yours.

Low-Stress Handling

Regenerative Practices

Clean and Healthy Feed
Here at Capital H Farm we have implemented processes that honor Creation and produce a very high quality product.
We raise our meats for you as though we were raising them for Him.
Low Stress Handling
We do not shock, beat, choke or whip our cattle. Cattle like people are negatively affected by stress. Humans may over eat or lose their appetite when stressed. Cattle always experience appetite and digestive issues during periods of stress which negatively affects their health and performance.
Regenerative grazing practices
We use no dangerous chemicals and we are proud to say that this year we have used no chemicals at all save natural clove oil on the fence line. We use intensive grazing, chickens, and poultry litter to fertilize and limit weeds.
Clean Finishing
Once the animals go into our finishing program they are not given any antibiotics and are naturally dewormed with diatomaceous earth. Unlike many commercial feedlots which mix a ration in order to force cattle to eat low quality ingredients, we provide clean dry hay separately from feed and clean feed bunks daily. We use only well water in our finishing program and use goldfish to maintain the cleanliness of the troughs. No chlorine, fluoride or any other chemical.
Fermented Forage
Many consumers have become cognizant of the Omega 6 to 3 ratios in meat especially chicken and have demanded a corn and soy free or grass fed finish. Our fermentation process takes the ratio of corn from up to 60:1 to less than 5:1 all while adding probiotics. Fermentation greatly reduces or eliminates Phytic acid, heavy metals, and pesticide residues, producing the healthiest meats that we are happy to serve on our tables and yours!
There are many problems with the commercial meat industry from the treatment of the animals to the quality of the meat that is produced – buying from our small family farm ensures you are getting the best meat raised in a caring and healthy manner.
